On 4/4/25 The Council of Reference(CoR) for Lanka Evangelical Fellowship(LEF) posted a 'Definitive Public Response' (hereafter 'DPR') to a series of serious allegations of criminal misconduct in Sri Lanka.

This was the original reason for my involvement, at the initiative of Sri Lankan brethren.
When it was drawn to my attention in 2010, that Jeyakanth had acquired in his own name, a £150k property in Mitcham, in his own name, with a £50k deposit and perhaps £20-30k worth of renovation work, I was troubled as to where such a large sum of money had come from.
I raised it privately in 2010 with brethren at APC, the MT and JK. No sufficient answer was received.

Sri Lankan enquiries by brother Jothy Hoole, a local pastor, and others, revealed that Jeyakanth had denied owning such a property, until he was confronted with hard documentary evidence from the UK land registry.
Till today, no proper evidence for the source of money for this purchase has emerged. I have heard and read several completely contradictory and somewhat unimpressive accounts about the source.
Some, but by no means all, are documented in the two pastors' report (8.6).

The DPR now seems to claim (sn.8.6, p.87) it came from his impressive salary as a Sri Lankan worker for Habitat and Teams.
Tony Senewiratne, the National Director for Habitat and the organiser of LEADS, thought JK's salary was insignificant (Sn.3.5, Cooke-Mullins Report). At the same time, he was reportedly obtaining rent free accommodation, elsewhere, because of a lack of resources, and close family members were in heavy debt.
The only factor is common is a denial that they were taken from charitable donations to Sri Lanka.

The concern remains. It may be possible to allay properly and it should be easy to investigate precisely, but no serious attempt to do so has been presented, despite enquiry. I could write and document much more, but I refrain now.

* Where did this large sum come from, has that been proven, how and to whom?

* Or do the Council of Reference still take JK's varying and inconsistent explanations and his initial obfuscation, on trust? No one official claims responsibility for this.

This is not just a private question, it is a question of public probity, especially given the early deceit.

This also explains why the ongoing concern about land registration of LEFC properties has been real and live.
