An unshakeable and unmeasurable love

God's love bears some of
the characteristics of human love - our love being a faint analogy of
His
- otherwise we could not know Him,
but how much greater and
richer He is than us!
'Can a woman forget her sucking
child,
that she should not have
compassion on the son of her womb?
Yea, they may forget,
yet will I not forget thee.
Behold, I have graven thee upon
the palms of my hands;'
(Isa.
49.15-16 The promise is originally given to Jerusalem's inhabitants,
and applies to all who fear Him)
'Are not five sparrows
sold for two denarii,
and not one of them is forgotten before
God?
But even the very hairs of
your head are all numbered.
Fear not therefore: ye are of more value
than many sparrows.'
(Luke 12.6-7, again
in the context the promise especially applies to all who follow Him,
but in a lesser sense is true of all
His handiwork)
'Who shall separate us from the love of
Christ?
Shall tribulation, or
distress, or persecution,
or famine, or nakedness,
or peril, or sword?
As
it is written,
For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep
for the slaughter.
Nay, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him that loved us.
For I am persuaded, that neither death,
nor life, nor angels,
nor principalities, nor
powers,
nor things present, nor
things to come,
nor height, nor depth,
nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us
from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.
(Romans
8.35-9, even our troubles and trials are used of God for blessing and
benefits
of a richness and quality we could not have previously
imagined - if only we had eyes to see more clearly!)
And we know that all things work together for
good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose.
(Romans
8.28)
